Privacy Policy
What Omet collects, why it exists, and what you can ask us to do about it. Written plainly, and without claiming to store less than we do.
Last reviewed 5 September 2026
1. The short version
- We collect what an account, a paid call and a moderation report require — no more.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not routinely record calls. Material attached to a report is an exception.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, or for your account and data to be deleted.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: the sign-in identifier you use, and your display name and profile picture if you set one.
- Anything you choose to put in your profile or send in chat.
- What you write to us in a support message or a report.
Information created by using the service
- Payment records: what was purchased and when. Card details are handled by the payment provider and do not reach us.
- Call metadata: that a call happened, with which account, when, and for how long. This is what billing and abuse investigation are built on.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, language, and the coarse location that an IP address implies.
- Usage data: pages opened and features used, so we can tell what is broken.
3. Why we collect it
To operate the service and connect your calls; to charge correctly for them; to keep the platform safe by investigating reports and stopping removed accounts from returning; to meet legal obligations; and to understand which parts of the product are working. Where the law requires a lawful basis, ours is performance of our contract with you, compliance with legal obligations, or our legitimate interest in a safe and functioning service.
4. Calls and recording
Omet does not routinely record the audio or video of your calls. What we hold about a call by default is metadata: that it occurred, between which accounts, when, and for how long.
There is one exception, and it is deliberate. When a call is reported, material relating to it may be retained so the report can be investigated and, where required, provided to law enforcement. Without that, a report is unactionable.
Other users may attempt to record you with software we cannot see. Doing so without consent breaks our Guidelines and may be unlawful, but no platform can technically prevent it. Please read Safety with that in mind.
5. Who else sees it
Other users see what you show and say on a call, plus your display name and profile picture. Beyond that, we share personal data only with:
- Service providers who run parts of the platform on our behalf — hosting, real-time video delivery, payment processing, email delivery, analytics — and only what each needs to do its job.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required, or where it is necessary to investigate a serious safety matter.
- A successor entity, if the service is ever transferred, under the same commitments.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
6. How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account exists. When an account is deleted, personal data is removed or anonymised except where we must keep it: transaction records for tax and accounting, and information tied to a safety report or a permanent removal, which is kept so the same person cannot simply return.
Technical logs are kept for a limited operational period and then discarded. We are not publishing a day count here that we have not verified; if you need the exact retention period for a specific category, ask and we will tell you.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to processing, to receive a portable copy, and to withdraw consent where consent was the basis. To exercise any of these, write to us via the contact page from the address on the account.
We will not charge you for a reasonable request or make the service worse because you made one. If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Cookies
We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences and understand usage. The detail is on the Cookie Policy page.
9. Children
Omet is for adults; you must be at least 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and an account we find belonging to a minor is removed and its data deleted. If you believe a minor is using the service, tell us immediately — that is the highest priority report we handle.
10. Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the review date at the top of the page changes with it, and material changes will be highlighted in the service.
The identity of the data controller and its registered address will be published in this section once confirmed. Until then, all privacy requests are handled through the contact page and answered by a person.
